Many students prefer to do their internships just right after they finish their studies. If you are reading this blog our guess is you are one of those students. However, It could be a bit tricky since you obtain your visa for the exact same period your studies last. Luckily for all the students in the same situation as you, there is a stay authorization for non-work practices. We will explain about it.

Stay authorization for non-work practices

What is it? An authorization that allows you to stay in Spain, for a period of more than ninety days, to carry out non-work practices.

Does not matter if it is in a public, private body, entity or an officially recognized professional training center.

You can apply if:

1.

You are not a citizen of a State of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, or a family member of citizens of these countries to which the Union citizen regime applies.

 

2.

If you have no prohibition from entering Spain and not appearing as objectionable in the territorial space of countries with which Spain has signed an agreement in this regard.

 

3.

Have sufficient financial means to defray the expenses of stay and return to your country and, where appropriate, those of your family members, in accordance with the following amounts:

  • Monthly maintenance, 100% of the IPREM, unless it is duly proven that the accommodation has been paid in advance for the entire duration of the stay.
  • For the support of their relatives, monthly, 75% of the IPREM for the first relative and 50% of the IPREM for each of the remaining people, unless it is duly proven that the accommodation has been paid in advance for as long as there is to last the stay.

 

4.

Have public or private health insurance arranged with an insurance company that has the authorization to operate in Spain.

 

5.

In the case of minors who are not travelling with their parents or guardians, their authorization, with proof of the center, organization, entity and body responsible for the activity and the planned period of stay.

 

6.

Carry out the internship within the framework of an agreement signed with a public or private body or entity.

 

7.

Has an opportunity with a public or private company or officially recognized professional training center, based on the aforementioned agreement.

 

In the event that the duration of the stay exceeds six months , the following will be required:

The authorization of stay for non-work practices is granted according to the following activities:

-Study reasons to complete or start a full-time program at an authorized teaching institution in Spain.
-Participate in an agreement designed to carry out non-work practices in a public or private centre.
-Support for a volunteer service that has objectives of general interest.
-Contribution to secondary or high school education at an officially recognized institution.

Therefore, with this authorization, you can now start applying for all the internships schools offer, or you can find your own.
